Gypsy Rose Blanchard Declares “I’m Finally Free” In First Comments Since Prison Release

Gypsy Rose Blanchard, known for her role in the Hulu series “The Act,” marked her release from prison on December 28 with a social media post expressing her newfound freedom. Blanchard served seven years of a 10-year sentence after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in connection with the killing of her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard. The mother had deceived Gypsy Rose for years, convincing her she was ill when she wasn’t. In 2015, Gypsy Rose and her then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, stabbed Dee Dee. Godejohn is serving a life sentence.

In her Instagram post, Gypsy Rose expressed gratitude for the massive support she received on social media, thanking everyone for their kindness and support. She shared her joy at being back home in Louisiana, enjoying a beautiful day outside, and mentioned exciting things happening soon. Gypsy Rose also mentioned her upcoming Lifetime docuseries, “The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard,” scheduled to premiere on January 5. Additionally, she discussed her upcoming e-book, “Released: Conversations on the Eve of Freedom,” emphasizing that it is not a rehashing of past events but a reflection on what she has learned and experienced over the last eight and a half years.

“The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard” follows Gypsy Rose in prison on the eve of her parole hearing as she recounts her emotional journey of being forced to remain a child and held captive by her mother. The docuseries also delves into the choices she made to survive and covers Gypsy Rose’s prison wedding, revealing her fiancé, Ryan, for the first time.
