Arrest made in shooting that killed a DC man in November

Roy Jordan, a 21-year-old resident of Southeast, D.C., was arrested on Friday in connection with a shooting that resulted in the death of a man in Southwest. Jordan faces charges of first-degree murder while armed.

On November 20, D.C. Police responded to a shooting incident on South Capitol Street Southeast, near 1st Street Southwest, around 9:30 p.m. following a report. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unconscious and non-breathing man on the sidewalk. The victim, identified as 29-year-old Gary Lavon Love III, was transported to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries the next morning.

Initially classified as a double shooting in previous reports, with a second injured man found nearby, it has been clarified by a public information officer from D.C. Police that Love was the sole victim of the shooting. The incident on November 20 marked the 249th homicide of the year, surpassing a 20-year record for the deadliest year in the District.
