Deadly carjacking near luxury DC apartments; victim shot over Chrysler 200

A man was shot and killed in a carjacking incident in the NoMa neighborhood of Washington, D.C. The victim was shot over his Chrysler 200, and the incident occurred near high-end apartment buildings on 3rd Street Northeast. The Metropolitan Police Department received a call reporting the shooting around 7:15 p.m. Officers found the victim unconscious and not breathing. The man was transported to a local trauma center, where he was later pronounced dead. Homicide detectives are investigating the incident, and streets in the area have been roped off as they interview witnesses, search for surveillance video, and gather evidence.

A cell phone video obtained by FOX 5 shows first responders appearing to perform CPR on the victim just minutes after the shooting. Detectives are seeking public assistance in locating the suspect’s vehicle, described as a 2016 gray Chrysler 200 with DC license plates reading GR 3248.

Earlier on the same day, a separate shooting occurred in the 900 block of New York Avenue Northwest. The victim in that incident, shot on the sidewalk, was found about a street away on New York Avenue NW. His injuries are believed to be life-threatening. Detectives have not yet identified the motive for the shooting or the perpetrator and have released a photo of a suspect, urging the public to contact them with information.
