A drive-by shooting near Nationals Park in Southwest D.C. resulted in two fatalities and injuries to two others. The incident occurred just after 11:45 a.m., with shots fired from a vehicle at four individuals standing outside a corner store near the 1300 block of Half Street, approximately two blocks from Nationals Park. D.C. Police Chief Pamela Smith provided details at a news conference, stating that a woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and three men were hospitalized. Unfortunately, one of the men succumbed to his injuries, while the other two remain in critical condition.

Police are actively searching for a white Jeep Cherokee with a sunroof, white rims, tinted windows, and Maryland license plate 2FD0820, believed to be involved in the shooting. The driver, reportedly wearing white gloves, is wanted in connection with an armed carjacking in the 4th District on the previous night. The vehicle is considered a key element in the ongoing investigation, although no suspects have been publicly identified.

Residents in the area reported being shaken by the sound of gunshots, with one witness describing the incident as resembling a “combat zone.” Despite occasional incidents of gunshots in the neighborhood, this event stood out, and residents hope for the well-being of the victims.
