Kevin Durant wants Draymond Green to get 'the help he needs'

Kevin Durant had some strong words for former Warriors teammate Draymond Green.

Following the Phoenix Suns’ 116-112 loss to the Brooklyn Nets, Durant was asked to comment on Green’s Flagrant 2 against teammate Jusuf Nurkic the night prior. The swing on Nurkic landed Green an indefinite suspension, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. This is the Golden State forward’s second suspension of the season.

“That was insane to see,” said Durant, who did not play during the game against Golden State. “Glad Nurk is all right. Never seen that before in a basketball court in an NBA game. I hope Draymond gets the help he needs. It’s been incident after incident.”

Green recruited Durant to the Warriors in the summer of 2016, where Durant would go on to win two championships and two Finals MVPs. The two have since had an up-and-down relationship, with an argument between Green and Durant eventually leading to Durant’s departure from the Warriors.

Durant continued, briefly touching on Green’s character and their relationship.

“I know Draymond, and that’s not – he hasn’t been that way when I was around, coming into the league. Hopefully, he gets the help he needs, get back on the court, and put all this stuff behind him.”

Meanwhile, former Golden State Warrior Nick Young thinks it’s time the franchise moves on from Green.

In an appearance on Undisputed, the shooting guard said, “You only see stuff like this in UFC.

“They let Draymond be Draymond for too long,” Young continued. “He cussed out KD. He got into with Jordan Poole. They [the Warriors] helped create it. …The writing’s on the wall, you got to blow this team up.”

Of Green’s 19 career ejections, five came while Durant was a member of Golden State. However, only one of those was for a physical altercation with a player.
