KU just opened their stadium doors to anyone.
After the Jayhawks shut out No. 3 Oklahoma 10-0 in the first half, the university decided to open the doors at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium. They notified their students through email and posted on social media that anyone could show up.
As the Jayhawks were up 17-7 to end the third quarter, Kansas Radio Network also made the announcement, “If you’re in town, come on down!”
Fans quickly took advantage of the rare opportunity and started pouring in from the surrounding areas of Lawrence, Kansas.
Kansas, which entered the game as a 38.5-point underdog, managed to keep its lead through the third quarter by kicking a field goal, but they opened their doors just in time for fans to see the Sooners execute their comeback.
They finally channeled their offensive momentum and scored 14 points in the third quarter with 21 points in the fourth to earn a 35-24 comeback win.
Fans who came in at the half are most likely unhappy with the loss while fans who stayed the whole game may be relishing in the halftime success.
