Apple Vision Pro will receive "new spatial games" including What the Golf? and more

Apple has provided additional details about its upcoming Vision Pro headset, priced at $3499, revealing that it will support over 250 Apple Arcade games upon launch. The company had initially mentioned compatibility with over 100 Apple Arcade titles in its June 2023 announcement. Apple highlighted the release of “new spatial games” for the Vision Pro, including titles from popular series such as What the Golf?, Game Room, and Super Fruit Ninja. These games are designed to leverage the headset’s “spatial computing” capabilities, offering unique and engaging gameplay experiences by transforming the space around players.

The press release also mentioned that non-spatial games like NBA 2K24 Arcade Edition and Sonic Dream Team will be playable on the Vision Pro with “popular game controllers,” although specific compatible hardware was not specified. Apple confirmed the Vision Pro’s launch date as February 2, 2024, in the U.S., with pre-orders starting on January 19 at 5 a.m. PST. The initial announcement in June 2023 had indicated an “early” 2024 release.

There were previous reports in July 2023 that Apple had adjusted its internal sales targets for the Vision Pro due to production challenges, leading to a delay in plans for a more affordable version of the headset. Despite these challenges, Apple seems committed to the Vision Pro’s release, emphasizing its capabilities in spatial computing and gaming experiences.
