High school students forced into cars during two robberies in DC

D.C. police are currently investigating two separate robberies involving high school students who were forcibly taken into cars, with one incident involving a student being kidnapped at gunpoint, according to information provided by the police and a member of the D.C. Council.

The initial robbery occurred at approximately 9 a.m. on Tuesday near Roosevelt High School in the Petworth neighborhood. As outlined in a police report, three suspects pulled up in a vehicle, and two of them exited to forcefully take the victim’s phone and shoes in the 4100 block of Georgia Avenue NW. Subsequently, they compelled the student into the car and drove away with him in the back seat. The student managed to escape when the perpetrators halted the car on Delafield Place NW, at which point they fled.

On Thursday around 10 a.m., another incident unfolded near Coolidge High School on 5th Street NW in the Takoma area. Two suspects in a gray, four-door Honda approached a student. One of the suspects brandished a handgun, instructing the victim to enter the car. The suspects proceeded to drive the victim around while taking his phone and hoodie, as detailed in the police report. Eventually, they released the student unharmed.
